How to "Request Desktop Website" on an iphone using the Safari web browser and how to activate the "Desktop Site" on an android using the Chrome web browser.
Why is it Important?
If a user tries to access a SCORM activity while using a mobile device or tablet, sometimes they may receive a message instructing them to "Please rotate your device". Rotating the device from "portrait" to "landscape" position may not resolve the issue. Viewing the Wildland Fire Learning Portal as a "Desktop Website" on a web browser should solve the issue.
Step-by-Step Tutorial:
Iphone using Safari web browser example:
User trying to complete Unit 2 in the course "S-130 Firefighter Training (Blended-Online Component) 2008 v2":
If you try rotating your device from "portrait" to "landscape" position and the issue is not resolved, please do the following:
- Click on the settings icon located on the left side of the Safari web browser bar.
- Click on the "..." icon to see all of the settings.
- Select "Request Desktop Website" under "Page Actions".
- To prevent needing to request the desktop website every time you visit the Wildland Fire Learning Portal on this device while using the Safari web browser, turn the "Request Desktop Website" setting on. This setting is located in the "WEBSITE SETTINGS FOR WILDLANDFIRELEARNINGPORTAL.NET" section.
- After exiting out of Safari's web browser settings, the webpage will reload and look like the picture below. Click "Continue".
- Find and "Enter" the course and unit you were attempting to complete. In this example, it is Course S-130 Unit 2.
- If your page looks like the picture below, select "Continue".
- The activity will then let you continue from where you left off and you will be able to interact with and complete the activity.
